Risk map for Romania compiled by the Civil Defence Command

EURISC - the European Institute for Risk, Security and Communication Management - was set up in 1995 as a non-governmental organisation, based in Bucharest, with the aim of studying the domain of risk, security and communication as components of the mitigation process into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

EURISC's main objectives are the study of risk and risk management in various fields such as international tension, political, security, natural hazards and major catastrophes.

Form the very outset, EURISC has functioned as a "think tank" and has organised courses, workshops and conferences.  It has also published studies in specialised journals, both in Romania and abroad.

EURISC operates under the aegis of the Black Sea University and provides a forum where leading politicians, industry leaders and senior academics can discuss and share concerns and values.
