Although our main activity is to produce topographic and cadastral maps, there is a significant need to produce "derived maps".   These include terrain models, slope and aspect maps (derived from the terrain model), hazard maps (produced from a Boolean combination of a number of maps), and risk maps (produced by combining a hazard map with the elements of risk).

There is considerable skill in combining data sets as, quite frequently, it is necessary to combine point data with area data: for this to produce sensible results, this requires a deep understanding of the data and the purpose for which the map is required.
