The slope map for Romania has been calculated from a digital terrain model.  The underlying DTM is based on a 100 metre grid and this has been used to calculate slope and aspect (orientation of slope) of the terrain, also at 100 metre intervals.  Finally, slope polygons have been calculated at five degree intervals. The resulting map is shown above.

However, the underlying dataset is fully geo-referenced and can be combined with topographic maps at 1:500 000 scale or 1:200 000 scale for planning and visualisation.

The map is ideal for -

      • Hydrological studies (snow melt)

      • Military planning (logistics)

      • Hazard analysis

The slope map is one of a family of derived maps available from Geo Strategies.

The data can be provided in all the common GIS formats.  It is also available as a raster image for draping over other datasets.
