"Hazard" has many definitions, but here it is taken to mean the probability of an event
taking place. The event in this case is a disaster resulting from earthquake or seismic activity.
The hazard map shown above is a combination of a variety of separate, spatial datasets for Romania -
specifically:
A slope map
A geological map
A soils map
A rainfall map
A seismic zone map
These individual maps have been overlaid and combined using factors which, for example, take account of
the susceptibility of different types of soil to seismic motion, related to slope and rainfall data.
The final map shows the high hazard areas for Romania in terms of historical seismic activity. It
is available in all the common GIS formats.
There are a number of interactive maps of Romania and you
can download sample data for evaluation if you wish.
