In order to effectively use satellite imagery for mapping purposes, or in conjunction with GIS/CAD/Map software packages, it is essential that the data is orthorectified.  PCI's Satellite Ortho and DEM Package (optical Satellites) corrects for distortions caused by the satellite position, earth terrain and curvature, and the cartographic projection.  The use of simple polynomial models for image correction does not provide the required accuracy necessary for many applications.

Orthorectification is valuable for merging image data with information from GIS/CAD/Map packages, for generating precise change detection maps, and for accurate data fusion of multi-temporal and multi-sensor imagery.
