Autodesk World brings powerful GIS functionality to the Windows environment.   World can create multi-dimensional views of a geographic area by integrating graphic images, statistical information, geographic data, and drawings.

World provides capture, edit, display, query, calculate, and reporting functionality for any kind of spatial data, including image, vector, and attribute data.  It integrates Seagate Crystal Reports, the industry standard for report generation, and Visual Basic for applications development and scripting.

World supports a number of file formats: ARC/INFO Coverage, ArcView SHP, Atlas BNA, MapInfo MIF/MID, and Bentley MicroStation DGN.

It uses the Jet engine from Microsoft Access as its internal database and you can easily access other databases using ODBC (Open Databases Connectivity) compliant drivers.   World has an extensive development environment with object linking and embedding (OLE), an automated API, and integrated Visual Basic for applications scripting.
