Geo Strategies was set up by two people - Daniela Florea, a geographer from Sibiu in Transylvania, and Bill Metcalf, an international management consultant, from Cambridge, UK.

The company was formally established on 28 March 1993.  During 1993, and for much of 1994, most of the activity was directed towards market development.  This culminated in a contract to produce 112 urban maps for Sibiu in September 1994.  Since that time, we have established a strong reputation in the international market as well as within Romania itself.  We now export to 11 countries and, in just two years have produced digital data sets for 38 countries.

Throughout our history, we have maintained an uncompromising focus on quality and productivity.  The aim has always been to produce digital products to full international standards and as efficiently as possible.

According to the World Bank, Geo Strategies has grown to become the largest digital mapping organisation in Eastern Europe.

As we are such a young company, our corporate mission is still evolving.  However, at this juncture, we are guided by the following principles:
